So often when self-care comes up in conversation the things that come to mind are massages, manicures, pedicures, facials, going to a spa, going to the salon. Sure, those count, but what is vital to your wellbeing comes long before these things.
Self-care includes things like, dental checkups, annual physicals, and regular eye exams. So often we overlook these semi-annual or annual items on the to-do list. We dread them, try to skip them, and do if we can get away with it. Often our to-do list is so long and overwhelming we put off these tasks as long as possible.
These exams are vitally important. It gives you a chance to talk to a professional about anything that has come up that is concerning, or out of the ordinary. Your doctor, dentist and optometrist can catch things that need to be taken care of before they become too serious.
Show your physical body some care. Go get your semi-annual and annual exams done. Make a list of things that you want to ask during your appointment. Take the list with you and follow through by actually asking the questions (no points for taking the list and leaving it folded in your purse or pocket).
